Tony & Tunnel's Tasting Evening
Tony, the chef, had organised, in conjunction with Mike from Tunnel Brewery, a tempting 5 course meal.
The first course was Ploughman's Soup, with Tunnel Munich Style Lager, which was surprisingly moreish. This was followed by Beer Glazed Sausages with Tunnel Boston Beer Party, a strong pale ale at 5.6%, which was stronger than first impressions suggested!
Next came Mussels Steamed in Tunnel Jean 'Cloudy' Van Damme, a Belgian style Wheat beer at 5%, accompanied by the same beer.
The main course was Short Ribs of Beef Braised in Battlefield Henry Tudor, again accompanied by the same beer.
The final course was Chocolate Puddle Sponge accompanied by Tunnel Shadow Weaver, a black stout at 4.7%
The commentary by Bob & Mike from Tunnel Brewery was entertaining, as usual. The beers interesting & in fine form. The meal was excellent, although a few members did seem to struggle towards the end!!
