4th Hinckley CAMRA Beer Festival

Thurs 15th - Sat 17th September 2011

Atkins Building
The Atkins Building, Lower Bond Street, Hinckley

Monday 19th
It's all over for another year! We ran out of beer (cider, perry & fruit wines) by 9pm on the Saturday evening, having closed the doors to new admissions at 7:30pm. We also had to close the doors for a while from about 9:15pm on the Friday evening due to the number of visitors present. Our apologies if you were one of the disappointed ones.

The new venue seemed to meet with the approval of most visitors who expressed an opinion to me, but, of course, there are always improvements that can be made.

We had around 1500 visitors who drank just over 5000 pints of beer and cider, plus 28 bottles of fruit wine. Over 50 of our 300 branch members helped towards the festival in various ways - a big 'Thank You' to them all!

Matt LogoThe festival was opened on Thursday by Matt Hampson the ex-Tigers player. Matt was an emerging talent who's world was rocked by a serious spinal injury while training with England under 21s. Paralysed from the neck down he faced the toughest challenge of his life and formed the Matt Hampson Foundation. The aim is to inspire and support young people seriously injured through sport. He now devotes his life to raising funds for those people.

Steve Colbourne, a founder member of our branch, died earlier this year and his partner Ann drew the first glass of 'Dear Boy', a Burton Bridge porter named in Steve's memory.
